Next Up For DL: Miami

West Jefferson, La. defensive tackle Marlon Favorite's been having a very busy month. In between meeting with college coaches on a daily basis, he's been preparing for an all-star game that will take place this Sunday.

"It's just a group of local schools that have kids playing," he said. "We're playing at the Superdome. It should be a lot of fun, sort of a tune up for the All-American game next month."

Favorite had something interesting to say about the game that Canes fans might be interested in.

"We had a press conference for the game on Tuesday and I met a dude named Dion Gales that is also being recruited by Miami," he said. "That's the first I met him. He's real strong on going to Miami."

At 6-foot-2 and 305 pounds, so is Favorite. At least for a visit, that is. He has one set up for Jan. 9.

"That's actually my next visit," he said. "I went to Colorado already. I've just been chillin lately then I got Miami, USC, Tulane, and LSU following each other in January. I'll have a much better idea after my last visit where I wanna go."

Favorite's hosted coaches from each of those schools, except Miami, for in-home visits this month.

"The coach from Miami has been in town but he hasn't been by yet," he said. "In fact, I haven't even talked to him in about two weeks. I'm sure I will soon."

The talented defensive tackle said there's a lot to like about the Hurricanes right now.

"That's a place that I knew I always wanted to visit," he said. "I like the area, it's always a school that's winning. They do a great job with their guys. Warren Sapp, look at the success he's had. Everyone wants to be the next Warren Sapp and I wouldn't mind it myself."

Favorite, who recently became a full academic qualifier, isn't ready to name a leader yet.

"All I have to go by is one visit," he said. "I'll know a lot more at the end of January."
