Jones: "I really loved Miami"

Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater standout defensive tackle Aaron Jones took his official visit to Miami this weekend and was blown away. "I really loved it," Jones said. "I loved every part of it. It was great. I went down with my family and everyone really enjoyed it."

"I had been here before for an unofficial visit but I didn't get a chance to see the things I saw this weekend. Miami, they went way up on my list after this weekend."

Jones, 6-2 and 270 pounds, arrived in Miami on Friday and took a trip to the Orange Bowl that night.

"It was so tight," he said. "They had a jersey for me that had 94 and Jones on it. I ran out of the fog and they announced my name as I was running out. I was like 'who's ready to get it on?'"

Jones then had a chance to watch practice on Saturday before hanging out with a lot of current Hurricanes.

"The best part about the whole visit was probably watching them practice," he said. "They really get after it. Their defensive line looks great. Everything from the coaches to the drills they run, it's something I definitely wouldn't mind being part of. Of course they get good players but they know how to get the most out of them. Vince Wilfork's gonna be a high draft pick. They have a redshirt freshman, Baraka Atkins, who had 10 sacks. Their D-Line just works really hard and it really makes a difference. I know that being part of that would really make me a better player and give me an opportunity to move on and play in the NFL. I didn't think it was gonna be like that."

Jones said he also enjoyed hanging out with various players and other recruits this weekend.

"I was with Kareem Brown and Baraka a lot," he said. "But I was with everyone. I talked with Kellen, Roscoe, a bunch of guys. Those cats are so cool. Sometimes you don't know but those guys were straight. I really felt comfortable around them and I really fit in well with everyone. And they had some of the best recruits in the nation there. Adrian Peterson, Fred Davis, James Bryant, me, Kenny (Ingram), Joe Joseph, there were a bunch of guys."

The talented defensive lineman spent some time with Bryant, who caught his eye right away.

"That guy's huge," he said. "When he said he was from Pennsylvania, we were like 'dang' because he was so big. He was loving it too. He was telling me that 'man, I might just commit' but he also likes some other schools."

Jones met with head coach Larry Coker at the end of the visit and talked about that meeting.

"He was real nice," he said. "He was just telling me how much they want me to play for them and how well they think I could fit into their school."

After the successful visit to Miami, the Hurricanes have clearly moved way up on Jones's list.

"I'm going to Florida State on January 9th but this place was unbelievable," he said. "I never thought it would be like that. I really loved Miami. Everything from the coaches, the players, the way everyone gets along, the way everyone competes. I haven't been to FSU for an official visit yet so it's tough to compare but Miami really moved up my list after this visit."
