Ingram Very High on UM

Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater standout free safety Kenny Ingram took his official visit to the University of Miami this weekend and came away impressed. "I didn't get there until about 12 on Friday night," Ingram said.

"We had a basketball game against Freedom and I wanted to be there for it because it was my first game back since we ended with football."

Ingram, 6-4 and 205 pounds, didn't get a chance to run through the smoke at the Orange Bowl with all the other visitors but he did have a chance to experience everything else.

"Antrel Rolle was my host," he said. "I was with him, DJ Williams, Aaron Jones, some defensive linemen, Early Doucet, we were all hanging out having fun. We all went out and had a great time on the city. I didn't get in until six in the morning last night."

The talented free safety prospect had a chance to meet with some of the coaches and addressed the situation in the secondary.

"With Coach Stoops gone, the strength and conditioning coach has been working with the secondary," he said. "He's real intense and knows how to get the most out of his players. Everyone seems to love him. I don't know if he's gonna be the new coach but he's real cool. Coach Randy (Shannon) was also working with the DB's and he knows what he's doing."

Ingram said he enjoyed watching the team practice on Saturday.

"Me and Aaron both enjoyed that," he said. "It's amazing how hard they get after it and how intense everyone is. At Edgewater, we're used to that because we're used to winning. That's how they do it at Miami, too. They win so much, they must keep practicing hard and really getting after it."

The standout defender, who doubles as a wide receiver, will leave for a basketball tournament in South Carolina on Christmas day and will follow that up with a trip to California for the all-star game.

"When I get back, me and Aaron are going to Florida State on January 9th," he said. "It's gonna be Miami or Florida State. I do know that this visit to Miami really helped them a lot. They really made a strong impression on us. I just gotta see what Florida State's talkin' about and then I'll know what I'm gonna do."

Ingram talked briefly about some of the other players that were on the visit with him.

"Joe Joseph from Oak Ridge was there and he is real high on Miami too," he said. "(Doucet) has been there before and is thinking about going. They had a lot of guys talking about it."
