Toal Compares UM and BC

Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep standout linebacker Brian Toal has taken official visits to Boston College and Miami in recent weeks. "They're my two favorite schools right now so it gave me a good chance to see the differences between them," Toal said. "I really enjoyed both visits.

The standout linebacker first talked about his experience at Boston College.

"I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've been there already," he said. "I've been going there for a long time since my brother is a senior now. I fit in really well there. A lot of people know me, I got more attention because I know a lot more people there. I hung out with my brother and all of his friends. It just makes me feel real comfortable there. It's a good school and I think I can play right away and of course it's closer to home."

Toal then talked about his visit to Miami, which took place this past weekend.

"Miami was awesome," he said. "I really liked it too. Their football program is unbelievable. All the players were a lot of fun to be around. I was hanging out with DJ Williams and Leon Williams and they showed me a great time. At first, we went to the Orange Bowl and had a chance to run through the tunnel and smoke with Miami jerseys on. I was like 'this is something I could definitely get used to.' On Saturday, I had a chance to watch the team practice and that was real nice. They're pretty intense, those guys really get after it. You can see why they're so successful. They have so many great players that it really brings out the best in them."

Before Toal left on Sunday, he had a chance to meet with head coach Larry Coker.

"He was telling me to take my time and think about my final decision," he said. "He said they have a great opportunity for me there."

Toal, 6-2 and 225 pounds, also had a chance to hang out with other recruits that were on the visit with him.

"I was with Adrian Peterson and a linebacker from Pennsylvania named James Bryant," he said. "Peterson really liked it but he's leaning towards Oklahoma. Bryant seemed to like it a lot, though."

The talented defender will enjoy the holiday break before taking a trip to Texas to play in the national all-star game.

"I'll come back and take some more visits," he said. "I have three left and I haven't decided which ones I'm going to take yet. I'm still looking at Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Penn State, and Notre Dame."

So after weekend visits to his two top choices, is Toal in position to name a favorite yet?

"No," he said. "They're both very similar when it comes to being the whole thing. There are parts I really like about BC and there are parts I really like about Miami. I'm just going to need some time to think more about it before I'm ready to make a final decision."
