Leggett Switches Commitment

Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep standout wide receiver Lance Leggett had a tough time making a decision this recruiting process and less than a month after committing to Florida, he's changed his mind.

"I switched my commitment," Leggett said on Wednesday morning. "I'm going to Miami. I really don't know why I committed to Florida in the first place. It wasn't really the best situation for me. I just really kept thinking about Chris Leak but then I started to realize that there is more to it than that."

At 6-4 and 180 pounds, Leggett is now firmly committed to the Hurricanes.

"I needed to switch," he said. "People are probably wondering why I changed because it probably doesn't happen too often. But since I haven't signed yet, I knew I could do it. Coach Werner is coming out here tomorrow."

The talented receiver has big plans as a future Hurricane.

"I really hope they get Fred Davis too," he said. "Can you imagine me on one side and him on the other? Who's gonna stop us? I love Coach CJ. I can't wait to go play for him. I know he's gonna get the most out of me and I really want to see how far that can take me."

Leggett said he's hoping to make an early impact at UM next season.

"They have a great team coming back but they need some receivers to step up," he said. "I'm gonna work really hard over the summer to make sure I'm in position to do that. I can't wait man."

He talked about being able to compete against Antrel Rolle every day in practice.

"Having someone like that, you're gonna be going up against one of the best DB's in the country," he said. "They always have great DBs so they're gonna prepare me well."

With more on how final his decision is, Leggett said, "Miami's where I wanted to go all along."

Now people may begin to wonder how solid the commitment is since signing day is still three weeks away.

"Man, it's final," he said. "I'm going to Miami."
