Joseph Talks About Commitment

Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge standout defensive lineman has been strongly considering Miami and Florida for the past couple months. After taking a visit to Florida this past weekend, Joseph thought as if his decision was going to be tougher than ever.

That all changed yesterday afternoon.

"Miami came up with four different coaches," Joseph said. "Coach Coker, Coach Shannon, Coach Mark, and Coach Soldinger all stopped by the school today. They just came to talk. It really made me feel like they really wanted me."

Towards the end of the visit, the UM coaches asked Joseph where they currently stand.

"I was like, 'I'm coming,' and they all were pretty happy about that," he said. "I'm committed to Miami now. It was pretty much between them and Florida and I just felt it was right to commit."

At 6-3 and 280 pounds, Joseph projects as a tackle at the next level.

"If you look at the success they've had in putting defensive linemen into the NFL, it's amazing," he said. "One of the other big reasons why I picked Miami was because of their academics. They talked a lot about my major and I think I can be successful after college. Their football program speaks for itself, it's the best in the country. It just was a better fit for me."

The talented defensive lineman, a full academic qualifier, said he has cancelled his scheduled visit to Tennessee for this weekend. He'll begin getting ready to become a Hurricane.

"I'm hitting the weights hard," he said. "I'll need to be in top shape because it ain't gonna be easy. A lot of good players will sign with Miami and I know they have a lot already. I'm gonna try to play early but if I have to redshirt, I will. I just can't wait."

Asked about the possibility of the Florida coaches possibly changing his mind sometime later this month, Joseph was pretty clear.

"No way," he said. "I'm a Cane!"
