"I also saw some new things that made Miami even better. I'm happy with my commitment, it's totally solid. I'm done with my visits and everything."
Thomas, 5-10 and 185 pounds, spent a good part of the weekend trying to meet new recruits.
"There were a bunch of guys taking their visits," he said. "I think Miami's probably gonna get the two teammates -- John Dunlap and (Octavius) Darby. Trevor Ford said it's Miami and Florida State and I think he'll choose Miami. Anthony Reddick was on his visit and I think he'll sign with Miami. Chris Rutledge told me that too."
Thomas spent a good part of the weekend with some fellow Louisiana recruits.
"I was with Tyson Jackson and Darryl Richard a lot," he said. "Tyson is an LSU commitment but he's thinking they might be signing too many guys. Miami offered him and he's seriously thinking about it. I talk to Tyson all the time. I used to be teammates with him. He's 6-5 and 280 and ran a 4.7 at LSU's camp. I think there's a real good chance that he'll change his mind (and sign with UM). Darryl said he loved it too and they offered him."
Thomas enjoyed making a visit to the Orange Bowl and getting a chance to run through the smoke.
"They had our jerseys ready for us," he said. "We all got to run through the tunnel and onto the field. They announced our name and where we were from and had music playing in the background. It was real nice."
Thomas had a chance to sit down and meet with UM coaches Larry Coker, Curtis Johnson, and Don Soldinger.
"They were just telling me how they have high expectations for me," he said. "They said it's not gonna be easy and that it's gonna take a lot of hard work but I can go in there and compete for playing time right away. I can't wait, I think it's gonna be great."
Thomas is a full academic qualifier.
