Peyton Loves UM Visit

Dade City (Fla.) Pasco Co. standout wide receiver Johnny Peyton appeared on UM's recruiting radar in recent weeks. He enjoyed his official visit to UM over the weekend. "I had a great time," Peyton said.

"I loved everything about it. The school was great. The whole program, academics is first. They have it all."

Peyton, 6-4 and 190 pounds, said he was hanging out with several other kids during the visit.

"Most host was (Javon) Nanton," he said. "He led the team in sacks and he started as a walkon. That shows what kind of coaching they get. I was with some recruits like Trevor Ford and Octavius Darby. We were all just chillin, hanging out."

Peyton, who made the trip with his step father and one of his assistant basketball coaches, said the best part of the trip was getting to know what it's like as a player at UM.

"I had a chance to see what that's like," he said. "It was great. Those guys really work hard and you can see the type of success it produces. Those cats aren't there to play around. They know how to get serious about football and also how to have fun on the side."

The talented receiver had a one-on-one meeting with head coach Larry Coker this morning.

"He was telling me they had a receiver commit to them recently," he said. "They have another kid that keeps telling them he's committed, then he's not, then he is. They're not totally sure what he's gonna do. He ain't offer me but I ain't worried about it yet. They said they're gonna let me know by next week. Coach Coker said he likes me. He said CJ likes me, he said Coach Werner likes me. But since they just got on me about a week and a half ago, they need to see what those other guys do first."

Peyton, who is scheduled to visit Louisville next weekend, said he'll be ready to make a decision if the Hurricanes were to offer.

"If they offer, it'll be real hard to pass up," he said. "Miami's a great program and I'd love to be a part of it."
