"I had some questions that needed answered and they all were. I was very impressed with everything."
According to Rutledge, a highlight of the visit was a trip to the Orange Bowl.
"We went to the stadium and put on our own jerseys," he said. "They put the big Miami helmet by the tunnel and we all had a chance to run through it. That was different."
The talented offensive lineman said he had a chance to hang out with several current players as well as recruits.
"I was with Andrew Bain, Jon Beason, everybody really," he said. "It was fun getting to know those guys better. Eric (Winston) was real cool too."
Rutledge had a chance to check over the depth chart while on campus as well.
"After Eric, it's another kid from Texas (Tony Tella) and then me," he said. "I think I'd be in a real good situation. They got a lot of young guards and they need some tackles and I think I can step in there."
Rutledge has now taken visits to N.C. State, Florida, and Miami. He said that while he enjoyed all three, one thing stood out about the UM visit.
"When I went to UM, it's like everyone was a lot more friendly," he said. "Florida and NC State were nice and everything but I didn't know many people. At UM, the players would just walk up and introduce themselves. They seemed to care more about me. They made more of an effort to find out who I was without me having to introduce myself to everyone. That made a big difference because it just made me feel so much more comfortable around the players and stuff. None of those guys are big headed or anything like that either. Those are the biggest differences so far."
The talented lineman will soon have a decision ready.
"I'm supposed to visit Rutgers but it's like minus 10 degrees up there right now," he said. "I really don't want to go if it's gonna be that cold. I'll just decide between those three if I have to."
So does anyone hold the upper hand for Rutledge, who is a full academic qualifier, at this point?
"It's all even still," he said. "I'll know my decision real soon."
