Dunlap Getting Closer?

For the past few months, Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade standout linebacker/wide receiver John Dunlap has been favoring the Hurricanes. He took his recruiting trip this past weekend. "I saw a lot of stuff that I really liked," Dunlap said.

"That's a great place. I kept thinking to myself, 'man, I could really fit in well here' so of course I feel that same way now."

Dunlap, 6-2 and 215 pounds, was initially recruited by UM to play linebacker but now he's been discussing the possibility of playing wide receiver.

"Like I've always said, it really doesn't matter to me," he said. "If I can get on the field as a receiver, then put me there. If it's linebacker, put me there. I just wanna play. I'm not one to complain, just get me on the field. I'll compete with anyone they have now or anyone they have coming in."

The talented senior had a chance to hang out with former teammate Jon Beason a lot during his visit.

"It was me, him, and Tay (Darby) just hanging out mostly," he said. "He was just telling us what it's like and stuff. It was nice meeting some of the players and other recruits that will also be there."

So where do the Hurricanes stand with the talented prospect?

"It's down to either Miami or N.C. State," he said. "NC State's a great school and everything but I think UM has what I'm looking for. They're close to home, they put guys into the league, and it's just a great atmosphere. They're my leader. I'll probably announce my decision soon."

Dunlap is a full academic qualifier.
