"I went up to Florida this weekend," Guthrie said. "It was me, J.R. (Bryant), and Jabari (Ferguson) that went. There wasn't a whole lot going on Friday night when we got there but then everyone was gettin loose on Saturday. We had fun."
At 6-3 and 238 pounds, Guthrie has two visits left on his schedule -- Miami this coming weekend and Rutgers next weekend.
"I'll check out UM next," he said. "I'm still committed to Miami. I liked a lot about Florida and that was the first time I had seen it. But I still plan on signing with Miami. Then I might go to Rutgers at the end of the month."
The talented tight end said the visit to Gainesville gave him a chance to get away.
"At first I wasn't sure whether I should take any other visits but then I figured that to know that Miami's the best place for me, I need to see some other schools first," he said. "This gave me a chance to do that. Florida's got a lot of good things going for them. They're gonna need some tight ends. But I'm still committed to UM."
Guthrie, a full academic qualifier, said his teammate Bryant hasn't changed his mind since last week.
"He liked it too but he still says he's going to FSU," he said. "He'll be at Miami with me next weekend for the visit."
