Gales Ready For Visits

Due to his basketball schedule, New Orleans (La.) Kennedy standout defensive lineman Dion Gales has been unable to take any recruiting trips. He was scheduled to see Ole Miss this past weekend.

"I didn't get a chance to go so we rescheduled it for this weekend," Gales said. "I'm going up there this week with my mom. Then next week I'm driving by myself to LSU. It's only about 30 minutes away."

At 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, Gales said his list of choices has been narrowed down to three -- LSU, Ole Miss, and Miami.

"The coach from Miami came to see me at school on Thursday," he said. "He was talking about a visit and getting that worked out. I talked to the Ole Miss coach just before you called. We're all set for this weekend. Coach Hixon from LSU was at my house today. He's cool and he's doing a good job of getting a lot of the guys from around here. Miami, I'm not sure when they're gonna come again. I've already met Coach Coker, the D-Line coach, and CJ."

The talented defensive lineman isn't sure when he'll be able to fit UM into his visit schedule.

"I was supposed to be going but they wanted to shove my visit date back and it ended up getting confusing," he said. "I still like Miami. Why not? They're one of the best and they have stuck with me from the beginning."

One may wonder of UM's chances if Gales doesn't even take a visit to see the campus.

"I've met some of the coaches and I've seen them play and stuff," he said. "Everything seems straight. I've been to Florida before, just not Miami. I'd be willing to sign with Miami even without visiting but LSU is starting to make a real strong push. I'll make my decision after I get back from LSU at the end of the month."

Gales is awaiting test score results to come back. He is scheduled to test again in early February.
