"I haven't taken any more visits or anything like that. When I made my commitment to Miami a few months ago, it was a done deal. I'm a man of my word. I'm still strong on commitment to Miami. Everyone needs to know that's where I'm going."
Heard, 6-foot-5 and 355 pounds, has been working hard inside the weight room in recent weeks.
"I've been hitting the weights hard," he said. "I wanna be one of the strongest players on the team my freshman year. I'm (bench-pressing) about 410 now. I stopped playing basketball because I didn't want to take a chance on hurting my knee or something like that. I might throw the shot or discus when track starts."
Heard said he's excited about becoming a Hurricane.
"The coaches came to the house last week," he said. "They're getting a lot of guys. Lance Leggett committed. They have great players on the team now. That's why they win so much. And now, they're recruiting some good players. I think we're gonna be real tight."
Heard, who also visited Texas A&M and LSU, projects as a full academic qualifier.
