Johnson Now Has UM Offer

Several months after making an early commitment to the University of Pittsburgh, star running back Andrew Johnson began having second thoughts about his initial decision.

"I'm not locked into going to Pittsburgh or anything yet," Johnson said. "I still like them a lot. They're still my hometown team and everything but I still want to look around."

Johnson told us last week that three other schools he's interested in are Miami, Florida, and Ohio State. That list is now down to the two Florida schools.

"Playing in Florida is something I've thought about for a long time now," he said. "I really liked it at Miami when I went down to camp a couple years ago."

Johnson plans on returning to UM for an official visit that will likely begin during the middle of next week, followed by a weekend visit to Gainesville.

"I'll know by signing day," he said. "I just wanted to look around and make sure I was making the right decision."

The talented running back received a visit from UM coaches earlier this week.

"They offered me and I really like their situation," he said. "(Tyrone) Moss is the guy they'll have for spring. Then Frank Gore will be back but they don't know when yet."

As Johnson told us last week, the competition he'll get from the other running back commitments won't be a factor.

"They're gonna have other guys everywhere you go," he said. "I ain't afraid of anyone. I feel like I'm the best running back in the country and I'll compete with anyone, the best of the best."

Johnson, a full academic qualifier, is not giving any hints on his favorite school at this point.

"I'll know on signing day," he said.
