"I sat down and met with the coaches. They told me that I have an offer and that if I want to come and play for Miami, the opportunity's there. I told them I'm definitely considering it and that I'll just need some time to go back and think it over."
At 6-0 and 175 pounds, Timmons has played a number of positions at the prep level. He projects as a cornerback in college.
"I like playing anywhere," he said. "Just as long as I get on the field, I dont mind. I don't like standing on the sidelines. At Miami, a lot of the freshmen can play on special teams right away. I know I'll be able to do that. They're also gonna be a little low at corner so I know I can fill in there too."
Timmons, who ran a 4.35/40 at the Gainesville NIKE Camp last spring, has now taken four recruiting trips.
"I've been to South Florida, North Carolina, Florida, and now Miami," he said. "I really liked the first three but none of them were like UM. This was the best. Miami's my leader. I didn't commit yet but I'm pretty sure Miami's the best place."
The talented defensive back said he had a chance to meet head coach Larry Coker.
"He's a real nice guy," he said. "I could definitely see myself playing for him. I like the opportunity there."
The talented defensive back plans on waiting till signing day before announcing his decision.
"It'll probably be around signing day," he said. "Me and Rashaun will probably sign together. We really liked Miami though."
Does Timmons Have an Offer?
