Williams Talks Recruiting

Sacremento (Calif.) Grant fullback/linebacker Worrell Williams is the younger brother of D.J. Williams, who signed with UM after a prep career at De La Salle High. The younger Williams tried enrolling there.

"I was gonna go there (De La Salle) but there were some complications that came up and I wasn't able to do all that," Williams said. "A lot of guys try to go there every year. They gotta make a little video just to try out. When DJ made his, he had his mom geared up and everything. They do some crazy stuff."

Williams, 6-feet and 250 pounds, played on both sides of the ball this past season.

"I'd rather play linebacker in college but in the end, it probably doesn't matter, as long as I play," he said. "My brother is gonna be in the NFL as a linebacker and I'd like to be there too someday."

The talented senior has narrowed his college list down to two -- Miami and Cal.

"I went to Cal earlier and loved it," he said. "I love that place, it's great. Miami was alright too but I'm leaning to Cal. It's closer to home, all that stuff."

The talented fullback was impressed with his trip to UM, however.

"I chilled with a lot of the players like Leon Williams and my brother," he said. "The thing about Miami is their players are so close together, they all have great relationships with each other. It's easy to see why so many people wanna play there. They win too."

Williams said one of the highlights of the visit was running through the smoke at the Orange Bowl.

"They announced my name and I was running out onto the field with a No. 2 jersey on," he said. "I was lovin all that."

At the end of his trip, he had a chance to sit down and meet with Larry Coker.

"He was telling me how they like me," he said. "They like how I can run and catch the ball too instead of just being able to block. They need someone like me."

Williams said he'll spend the next few days going over all the details of his decision before he'll announce.

"It'll be Miami or Cal but like I said, I'm leaning to Cal right now," he said. "I'm not sure but I think the Miami coaches are coming out here this week."
