Jones Talks Recruiting

As is the case with his teammate Kenny Ingram, Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater defensive lineman Aaron Jones struggled with naming a favorite throughout the recruiting process. It began with Florida State.

"Going into the whole process, Florida State was my top choice," Jones said. "Just based on what I knew at the time, I really liked them the most."

It didn't take long for UM head coach Larry Coker to get involved. He made contact with Jones during the May evaluation period. However, the talented defensive lineman continued to favor the Noles till midway through the season.

"Things started to even out during the season," he said. "I really started having a hard time picking between the two. Then when I took my trip to Miami, I really thought they were the leader. Then when I visited Florida State, it was back to even."

The talented defensive lineman, 6-2 and 270 pounds, will announce to the college football world on Wednesday where he will be playing his college ball.

"I'm glad it's gonna be over with finally," he said. "There was a lot to like about both schools. Florida State, the coaches are great. I really get along well with them. Miami's too. When I visited Miami, I really liked the way they worked and the way they practiced. It was hard to compre that to FSU though because they weren't practicing at the time (mid January visit). I thought a lot about it and now I'm ready to announce it."

Jones was relaxing on Monday night, even engaging in conversations with linebacker Willie Williams.

"I just got off the phone with Willie," he said. "We were just talking about where we're going to school and stuff like that."

Jones is a full academic qualifier.
