Coker Met With DL

It's been a busy month for Destrehan, La. standout Darryl Richard. The talented defensive tackle began the month with a trip to Texas for the Army All-American Bowl. "That was real fun," Richard said.

"I enjoyed myself. It was fun hanging out with all the Louisiana guys. Unfortunately, I had hurt my ankle during the game and wasn't able to finish. But it was a good time out there."

Richard, 6-3 and 290 pounds, then made two recruiting trips during the last two weekends.

"I went to Miami two weeks ago and then Colorado last week," he said. "I had a great time on both of them. I was chillin with Sammy Joseph when I was in Colorado. It was kinda cold but it's not much different than here now. Miami was a great trip too. I got a chance to hang out with some of the players and get to see the program a little closer. It really is an impressive place."

The talented defensive tackle has paired his list down to three programs -- Ga. Tech, Colorado, and UM.

"Coach Coker is coming by my house later on tonight," he said. "Miami's been on me the whole time. They have offered me and everything. I'm real interested in them but I'm not gonna announce my decision until Wednesday."

Richard, a full academic qualifier, was asked about the competition he may face at the various programs.

"It really doesn't bother me," he said. "At first maybe but now that I've gone through the process, stuff like that doesn't even matter. I'm just gonna go where I feel most comfortable."
