Jones Talks About Commitment

For the last several months, Miami (Fla.) Northwestern standout wide receiver Khalil Jones has been hoping to receive a scholarship offer from the University of Miami. On Sunday, it finally happened.

"They offered me today and I committed right then and there," Jones said. "I didn't even need to think it over. I knew all along they were gonna offer me, I just had to stay patient through the whole thing."

Jones, 6-2 and 210 pounds, played wide receiver and tight end for the Bulls this past season.

"Coach CJ is gonna be excited that I'm coming and I can't wait to play for him," he said. "He's one of the best coaches out there and I think he will be able to work with me and get me to the next level. That's my ultimate goal -- getting to the league."

The talented wide receiver said he's excited about becoming a Hurricane and doesn't understand why certain kids don't want to join him.

"I look at it like this -- it's their loss," he said. "UM will just turn around and get the next guy that wants to come. Some guys are scared. Some guys don't wanna come and compete and stuff like that."

Jones was one of just two official visitors to UM over the weekend.

"It was me and some big dude from New Jersey (Shukree Barfield)," he said. "He was talking about how much he liked it but he isn't committed or anything yet."

Jones is a full academic qualifier.
