Adam Ricks Q&A

Adam Ricks is a senior second baseman from San Ramon, California. Last season, he batted .329 while playing in all 63 games. Ricks is a patient hitter at the top of the order and provides solid defense as well. He talked about his summer, the College World Series and what he likes to do away from baseball.

What did you do during the summer?

Everyone else played summer ball, but I just took some summer school classes and worked out here all summer. It was probably good for me and I was able to get a lot stronger. I'm hitting the ball harder now.

How did fall practices go?

It went good. Everybody was hitting the ball and played well. I think we are going to have a good year.

How did the younger players to in fall practices?

The young guys have looked good too. The position players did well and our pitching staff looks good too.

Was there anything in particular that you worked on in the off-season that you wanted to improve in your game?

I worked on my physical conditioning. Trying to get faster and stronger as well as keep up with hitting and taking ground balls.

With the high expectations that the team has, what is the key for the team to stay on track this year?

Everyone needs to stick together and have the same goals. We have the talent to do some great things this year.

What do you remember from the College World Series last year?

That we didn't get as far as we wanted to.

What is the key for practices prior to the season?

Making sure everyone is on the same page with signs and coverages. And then just going out and playing.

Away from baseball, what kind of things do you like to do for fun?

I play guitar a little bit. I like music and I like to just hang out. I'm not a big club guy.

This is your senior year, how would you like to go out?

With a ring.
