Offer Coming For TE?

Valdosta, Ga. standout tight end Cedric Hill was enjoying a strong senior season when he approached his coach about getting more tape out to certain schools. "I wasn't getting all the recruiting attention from the colleges like some people," Hill said.

"I thought I was good enough to play at the big schools. I talked to my coach and he sent my highlight tape down to Miami."

Hill said a short time later, he began hearing from the UM coaches.

"It was a little while after that when the coaches started calling me and stuff," he said. "They were just talking about my season, the school, and stuff like that. I kinda knew they were getting interested. They really liked the tape."

Then the talented tight end took an official visit to UM last weekend and was blown away.

"I loved the visit," he said. "Everything about it was great. The players, the coaches, the area, the tradition, everything. Those guys are hungry down there, they like to compete with each other. I think I'd fit in."

Hill left UM last Sunday without an offer but believes he may be getting real good news soon.

"I talked to the Miami coaches today and they talked about maybe giving me a scholarship offer for Wednesday," he said. "I haven't gotten the papers or anything yet but I'm gonna be talking to them again tomorrow about setting something up so that I can sign with Miami on Wednesday. They seem like they want me and I'd definitely sign with them if I could."

Hill, who also plays varsity basketball, is being recruited to play tight end. He likes the opportunity.

"I play receiver and tight end," he said. "The thing is, Miami uses their tight end so much that I think I'd rather play there. I'm about 206 pounds and that's about what Kellen Winslow was when he got there. Plus, with him leaving and everything there's gonna be some new competition for playing time. I'd like that."
