Vince Bongiovanni Q&A

Vince Bongiovanni is a junior right-handed starting pitcher from Barrington, Illinois. He pitched one of his best games last year in the College World Series going six innings and giving up just one earned run. Bongiovanni finished the season with an 8-4 record and an ERA of 4.00. How was your summer?

I had a real good summer and it was real positive like a lot of players.

What are some things that you worked on in the off-season to improve your game?

My mechanics. I wanted to refine my mechanics. There are a bunch of little things that I worked on.

How did fall practices go for the team?

Fall practices went real well. Everybody came back and learned a few new things. It went pretty well.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming season?

I'm looking forward to the season, we have everybody back and everyone is doing real well. It should be a good season.

There are a lot of guys that could get starts this year, what are your thoughts on the starting pitchers?

Our staff is back from last year and I think our staff is real deep. Everyone is fighting for a spot. It will probably be a fight all season long.

What do you remember about last year's College World Series victory?

Just winning. I won my game, which was unbelievable. As a team, we didn't finish where we wanted to be. We wanted to get a ring. When we left there, it was heartbreaking.

What are the expectations of this year's team?

Every year we expect to win it all. If we don't win it all, it's just an okay season. If we do win it, then it is a good season.

What are the important factors for the team to stay on track to win it all?

If everyone stay healthy and play together as a team, we'll be all right.
