Coach Larry Coker
"I haven't seen a day like this in the spring in South Florida. This is like the Rocky Mountain weather. Today was a really good day. They were rested and had a lot of time off. They ran around pretty well today. We did some good things today."
"Tomorrow we will practice in pads and Friday will be a shorts day. Saturday we will be in the Orange Bowl. It will be a good finish for us."
"Santonio Thomas is a great kid. He is very well respected by his teammates and I want him to have a great year for obvious reasons for him, but for us as well. We lose Vince Wilfork up front and Orien Harris has looked very well all spring."
"Buck Ortega has moved around a lot, but has been a tight end for a while now. He was there in the fall and in the spring. He is about 15 pounds heavier and healthy. I think he is at the right position and will really step up. He is catching the ball well and blocking well. He doesn't block like Bubba Franks, but he might be 235-240 pounds by the time he is done here."
* Terrell Walden, who tore his ACL last Thursday, has not set a date for surgery. His status for the season is unknown and won't be determined until after the surgery. Walden was the top sprinter on the track team.
* Glenn Sharpe is progressing very well. He could play today if asked although he wouldn't be released to play yet. He is a very important defensive back for the team in 2004.
* Devin Hester in his new ‘Z' spot caught a short slant and took it up the middle showing good acceleration and speed blowing by the linebackers. Hester puts a lot of pressure on himself to do well and is poised for a breakout year.
* Marcus Maxey continued to work out at cornerback and will continue to do so. He has improved his foot speed and his height gives receivers trouble. Walk-on Joe Tolliver replaced Maxey at free safety on the second unit.
