"Georgia called first thing this morning and then Coach Kehoe from Miami called," Hardrick said while enjoying a cookout with his family. "He was real cool. I guess he wanted to get the last word in (laughs)."
At 6-foot-5 and 340 pounds, Hardrick said he heard a lot of good things from Kehoe.
"He basically said how he really liked me and that he was gonna be recruiting me real hard this year," he said. "He said anytime I wanna come for a visit and check it out down there, I'm more than welcome. He said he thinks I'm the type of player that can step in and play."
Hardrick said he immediately began considering a trip to UM in the coming weeks.
"They want me to come to their camp on (the 12th)," he said. "I'm considering it. The only one I know I'll be at for sure is Down & Dirty (in Lakeland). If I go to a college camp, it'll probably be at Miami. I have to check with my uncle about getting a ride down there."
The talented big man has spent much of the past several weeks working with a tutor to get his grades in order.
"I have been working a lot with one," he said. "I need to get an 800 on the SAT or a 15 (ACT score) with my GPA right now. I know how important that is and I even missed some practices because I was with the tutor."
Hardrick will take the ACT this Saturday.
That hasn't stopped a parade of college coaches from coming through the school to see him.
"The recruiting coach for this area (Soldinger) came from Miami," he said. "Florida State, Florida, Oklahoma, there were a bunch of them. They all called on the phone too."
For now, Hardrick has two schools that stand out on his list of favorites.
"To tell you the truth, my top two are Florida State and Oklahoma," he said. "It's just because they have shown me the most interest. It seems like they want me the most. I call the coach from Oklahoma every two weeks or so just to check in. Florida State, I'm already familiar with because Aaron and Kenny are going there. The coach there told me that whenever I take my official visit there, one of those guys will be my host."
Hardrick realizes it's early and says things can change between now and signing day.
"It's still a long ways away," he said. "I'm gonna take my visits. My top five would be FSU, Oklahoma, Miami, Florida, and probably Ole Miss."
