OL Talks About UM Camp

Merritt Island offensive lineman Eddie Haupt has been staying busy this summer. In addition to working out with his teammates, he's been to a few camps. "I went to Miami over the weekend and then I left early from there and went to Gainesville for Florida's linemen camp," Haupt said. "I think I did really good."

At 6-4 and 290, Haupt said he was hoping to do even better at Miami's camp.

"I couldn't done better," he said. "I did great in the drills though."

Haupt mentioned Ricky Jean-Francois as a tough opponent.

"He was real good," he said. "It would be nice to have a guy like that on our team. He also played linebacker. I saw him even catching some passes as a tight end at one point. I went against him once when I was playing center."

Haupt had a chance to work with UM coach Art Kehoe during drills.

"He's a good coach," he said. "I like him. He said I was doing good and everything. My coach is gonna call him to see what they thought and to see about an offer or whatever."

Haupt got good news from the Florida coaches yesterday.

"I talked to Coach Locksley and he said a scholarship offer will be in the mail so I thought that was pretty sweet," he said.

Haupt heads to Michigan on Sunday for camp. He's hoping to impress the coaches into offering him. When he returns home, he'll begin preparing for Down & Dirty's Linemen Camp in late June.

Haupt, a full qualifier, lists Miami, Florida, Michigan, Stanford, South Florida, and Georgia as some of his favorites.
