Hodge Updates Status

Dillard linebacker Elijah Hodge has been enjoying his summer vacation. "Basically, I've just been working out with all my teammates getting ready," Hodge said. "I've been a starter since my freshman year and now I'm finally a senior. I've been waiting for this for a long time."

Hodge, 6-0 1/2 and 205 pounds, said it's also refreshing to know that he's already qualified. He leaves for a camp at Rutgers this weekend.

"Our flight leaves on Saturday," he said. "Hopefully I'll be able to learn some things and be able to bring them back with me."

The talented linebacker said he had hoped to attend UM's camp but was unable to make it.

"I wanted to go but I had to take care of some things back here with my family," he said. "I heard there were some good guys out there so I wish I could have been there."

Hodge is one of the top linebacker prospects in Florida and recently added another written offer.

"In addition to the ones I had before (Rutgers, Pittsburgh, NC State, and Duke), Iowa sent me an offer through the mail," he said. "They're coming in."

The rising senior wanted to check on his status with UM so he decided to call coach Vernon Hargreaves.

"I called him on Sunday, just checking in," he said. "We just like to keep in touch with each other. He said they're still watching me closely. I haven't gotten an offer from them yet but I know I just gotta be patient."

Hodge lists UM as one of his favorites.

"My top five would be Miami, Iowa, NC State, Duke, and LSU," he said.
