LB Talks To Shannon

Miami Northwestern standout Dustin Forston attended UM's camp earlier this month and he followed up with a conversation with UM coach Randy Shannon.

"He was just telling me to keep working hard and keep doing some extra linebacker drills on top of my regular workouts," Forston, who plays defensive end now, said.

The talented defender said he'll be able to gain some insight into what a typical UM linebacker would do in a regular workout.

"Romeo (Davis) lives right around the corner and he's been going down there all the time to workout," he said. "We're gonna workout together on the weekends so hopefully he'll be able to show me a few things too."

Forston has not yet been offered by Miami but isn't real concerned about that right now.

"That's the (offer) I want but I know it'll take time," he said. "Coach Shannon hasn't offered any linebackers from down here yet."

The rising senior finished last season with 21 sacks, while playing at 190 pounds.

"I got up to 200 for the NIKE Camp in early April," he said. "I was 206 for the MSL camp and now I'm at 215. I know I'm quicker and smarter than last year. I can't wait for the season to start."

Forston is a full academic qualifier.
