OL Returns From Camp

Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater standout offensive lineman Matt Hardrick recently participated in a camp called Down & Dirty, which features a few hundred offensive and defensive linemen.

"I think I did really good," Hardrick said. "I was doing great the first couple days. I didn't see anyone that could beat me. But then the third day, I got a little tired. I was worn out. That showed me that I needed to come back here and start training a little harder."

Hardrick, 6-5 and 340 pounds, said he was hoping to see Ricky Jean-Francois at the camp.

"His coach told me Ricky couldn't make it because of some track thing," he said. "I was hoping he'd be there because he's been the toughest competition up to this point (in last year's state game)."

The talented offensive lineman continues adding scholarship offers at a rapid pace. As reported on this site recently, Hardrick was recently offered by Miami. He also spoke to Art Kehoe recently.

"I talked to him about the camp," he said. "I knew he was there for the first session and he told me that his assistant would be there for the one I was at. I was hoping to get a chance to work with him because he seems like a great coach. I get along really well with him."

Hardrick currently lists UM as one of his three co-favorites at this point in the recruiting process.

"It's basically between Miami, Florida State, and Oklahoma," he said. "That might change but those are three on top right now. I'm going to Florida's camp on the 10th this weekend so I'll get a chance to see them a little closer."

The rising senior said he's just trying to enjoy his summer right now.

"I'm just training with my team for the upcoming season, going to some camps, and working some nights," he said. "I'm trying to get everything in school lined up so I'll be qualified. I really can't wait to get back on the field this fall. This team's pretty hungry for winning a state title."
