QB Still High on UM

Carlton Hill returned from the University of Miami summer camp just over a month ago knowing he had a scholarship offer. Things just got better from there for the talented quarterback.

"I've gotten some more offers, including one from Florida State," Hill said. "I remember thinking back in the spring what I needed to do to get offered by some of the top teams and I guess I've done whatever that was."

At 6-2 and 205 pounds, Hill has been working out with his teammates for most of the summer in addition to taking in a few camps.

"Basically, I'm just doing whatever I can to get ready for the season and to be on the same page as the rest of my team," he said. "I'm a senior now and I need to be a big leader for those guys. We wanna make it to the state game this year and we're working hard this summer to achieve that."

Hill plays quarterback at the prep level but many people have discussed the possibility of Hill switching to receiver in college.

"I see myself as a quarterback," he said. "Everyone's recruiting me there. I know that is quarterback doesn't work out in the longrun, I probably have the ability to play receiver too. But I'm gonna get a shot at quarterback and I'll do what I can to make it work."

Hill is getting ready for the blitz of phone calls he'll likely be getting from college coaches starting Sept 1.

"It's pretty hectic at times but I know it's for a good cause," he said. "I like Miami a lot right now. The coaching staff is really nice and I like how they put so many great players into the NFL. I like Florida State, Florida, South Florida, LSU, Maryland, Purdue, and a few other ones. I'm not about to make any quick decisions and I'd like to take my visits first."

Hill is a full academic quaifier.
