OL Still High on UM

Miami Northwestern's Chris Barney has been enjoying his summer. He knows it's time to get serious now. "It's right around the corner," Barney said about the start of the season. "This is what I've been waiting for ever since we got knocked out last year in the playoffs. I'm ready now."

Barney, 6-5 and 330 pounds, is one of the top offensive line prospects in the entire state. He has the offers to prove it and talked about some of his top choices.

"I still like UM a lot, but there are some other teams starting to get into it a lot too," he said. "N.C. State, Rutgers, Florida State, USC, teams like that. At first all I wanted to think about was UM but now I'm starting to look around and realize there are a lot of other good programs."

The talented lineman said there's still a lot to like about the Hurricanes.

"It's the home team," he said. "Nothing can change that. I've always thought about what it would be like to be a Hurricane. Coach Kehoe's real cool and I like the school and everything. NC State and Rutgers are doing a good job getting a lot of the top players from down here. Florida State, they're a great team and I know some former teammates there. USC's the hot team right now."

Barney, who has over a dozen scholarship offers, said he plans on taking his time through the recruiting process.

"I definitely wanna take all my visits before I make a decision or anything like that," he said.
