Dorsey, McKinnie Finish High

Junior QB Ken Dorsey and senior OT Bryant McKinnie finished third and eighth respectively in Heisman voting. No other team placed multiple players in the top ten. Nebraska QB Eric Crouch capped a huge week of awards with the top prize.

Dorsey accumulated 638 total points made up of 109 first place votes, 122 second place votes and 67 third place votes. He finished behind Crouch and Florida QB Rex Grossman only.

McKinnie surprisingly collected 26 first place votes, 12 second place votes and 14 third place votes.

This was the second closest voting since Bo Jackson won the award in 1985. A regional voting breakdown had Crouch winning only the Southwest, with Grossman taking the Mid-Atlantic and South, Dorsey the Northeast and Oregon QB Joey Harrington the Far West.
