Matt Hardrick just wants to play. He's tired of waiting around. "We've just been sitting around here waiting for all these hurricanes to pass through," Hardrick said on Thursday night. "I'm ready to get out there and start showing people that we're out to win a state title. That's the big goal right now."

Hardrick, a 6-5, 345-pound mauler from Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater, said he feels like he's in great shape and is ready to show people what he's all about.

"I thought I had a good offseason," he said. "Sometimes I struggled because of the heat and all the running we did. I wasn't always in the best shape but I'm a lot further ahead than I was last year and I think I'm ready to go out there and dominate this year."

Hardrick spent Thursday night trying to get ahold of one of his teachers, who expressed an interest in driving Hardrick down to Miami for the game on Friday.

"I've been trying to reach him so I can catch a ride to the game," he said. "I really wanna be there because that's gonna be a great game."

The talented lineman said he's received phone calls from his three favorites, plus many more, already this month.

"Florida State and LSU are probably my top two right now," he said. "They both called. I set up an official visit to Florida State in January. I'm going to LSU too but I just don't know when yet. Coach Kehoe from Miami called me over the weekend and we just talked about different things. Right now, they'd be the next team on my list. I gotta take my visits before I'll be able to figure it all out. Oklahoma is also up there and I plan on taking a visit out there."

Hardrick talked about each of his favorites.

"With Florida State, I am familiar with them," he said. "They're in-state and I have some friends that go there now. I really like Coach Saban and the coaches at LSU. They always have a good team. Miami's also a home state team that is always good. Coach Kehoe has put a lot of linemen into the pros and I think I could really take my game to another level with him as my coach. He seems like a guy that could really push me."
