Inside the Locker Room

Following the Hurricanes' impressive 48-0 win today over Louisiana Tech we caught up with head coach Larry Coker and a varity of players for their thoughts on their performance. Devin Hester, Brock Berlin, Kyle Wright and a host of others chime in.

LARRY COKER

It was a great win for us - especially a game we were expected to win. We really did some special things on special teams and I was very proud of Devin Hester. Obviously you don't have to be very smart to know he's really special. He's so fast and explosive he makes fast guys look slow. We have to find a way to get the ball in his hands a lot more.

(On Berlin): He was pretty efficient. I thought he threw the ball and managed the game pretty well. We still have to get the ball downfield more. I really think this offense can be really special when they put it all together. We have some work to do.

(On defense): We really attacked the ball well and got after it today. They were pretty motivated and did the kinds of things you can really build on. Anytime you get a shutout - it doesn't matter who it is - it's pretty special. McIntosh was kind of our soul mate today lining everybody up.

BROCK BERLIN (10 FOR 14, 122 YARDS, 1 TD, 1 INT)

It's hard to compare because we had such a tight and close ballgame against Florida State, but I thought we did a lot of positive things with the ball. But that doesn't mean I'm satisfied. We can be a lot better, including myself. I have to be a little more patient with the ball at times. It's nice when you get the kind of defensive and special teams play that we did today.

DEVIN HESTER (2 TD PUNT RETURNS, 143 YARDS)

I know what I can do every time I get the ball. Today was one of the most enjoyable days of my football career. I just love everything that goes with it - the crowd, the guys jumping up and down on the sidelines and the opportunity to make somebody else pay. I just feel confident that once I get into the open field you're going to have a tough time catching me.

KYLE WRIGHT (1 FOR 3, 6 YARDS)

I really didn't think I played that well, but I'll go back and see what I can improve. It's always nice when you go home with a win.

TY MOSS (7 CARRIES, 69 YARDS, 2 TDs)

We took some steps today on offense, but we can do a lot better. Sometimes it takes a few games to get everything rolling. Hopefully it will happen for us sooner than later.

ANTREL ROLLE (4 TACKLES, 1/2 SACK)

We did what we were expected to do today. Sometimes there is a little more pressure when you're expected to win - and win big - but a lot of guys in this locker room stepped up. The guys understand we haven't done anything yet. This is a marathon we're in and it's just getting started.

TAVARES GOODEN (9 TACKLES)

I don't know what to say anymore about the ability of these guys (on defense). Nothing they do surprises me anymore. It's so much fun just running to the ball knowing that so many guys have your back.
