WR Updates Status

Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central got a big addition to its offense this past summer with the transfer of Jessie Hester, who is one of the most heavily recruited players in the state at his position.

"I just fit in a lot better here," Hester said. "Plus I wanna be able to help my team win a state title and we have a team that can do that here."

Hester, 6-0 and 165 pounds, said he's been getting a lot of recruiting attention in recent weeks.

"A lot of coaches have been calling since September 1st," he said. "I talk to Miami, Iowa, Florida State, NC State, South Florida, Northern Illinois, teams like that. All of them except for Florida State have already offered me a scholarship too."

The talented receiver said he uses his speed and knowledge of the game to make an impact.

"I think my speed and instincts just give me an advantage," he said. "I just let my natural ability take over and try not to think too much."

Hester had a chance to watch two of his top college favorites in the Orange Bowl earlier this month.

"I went to the FSU/Miami game," he said. "That was a great one. Florida State had it but Miami fought back hard and pulled it out. I was kinda surprised they came back the way they did because it seemed like Florida State had it. I wasn't rooting for either team. I was just there to watch a great game and that's what it was."

Hester talked more about some of his favorites.

"In addition to those two (UM and FSU), I'll probably visit Iowa and maybe NC State," he said. "Iowa and NC State, they're doing a good job recruiting me. I like the coaches and their situations. Miami needs some receivers and I think I can go in there and play. Plus, I like the coaches. FSU just started recruiting me harder but I'm not sure if they're gonna offer or not."

While Hester isn't ready to name a single favorite at this point, it's likely he'll choose among those four.

"Those are pretty much the ones I'm looking pretty hard at right now," he said.
