Practice Notes: 10/20

The team practiced for two hours preparing for their upcoming game against North Carolina State on Saturday. Miami received some optimistic news on the injury front.

"Today was a good day," head coach Larry Coker said. "I was concerned about the weather and possible storms. It was our last really physical day and, of course, we will have a good mental day tomorrow and then go to Raleigh on Friday."

Miami used backup quarterback Kyle Wright in the third series of the game against Georgia Tech, but he did not see action against Louisville. Coker discussed his plan to use Wright against North Carolina State.

"We have both Kyle and Derrick ready," Coker said. "We are going to see how the game progresses. Sometimes I have in the back of mind of playing them, but I have a gut feeling of how things are going and then go from there. I planned on playing Kyle the other night against Louisville, but it wasn't the thing to do. Brock had things going and players were rallying behind him. Hopefully he will have the chance to play some against North Carolina State."

The Hurricanes will face North Carolina State on Saturday, October 23 at 7:45 p.m. on ESPN.

* WR Sinorice Moss practiced very well today and it was very encouraging to see. He has not fully recovered, but he is making good progress.

* WR Roscoe Parrish will be one of the starting receivers against North Carolina State along with either Darnell Jenkins, who started last week, or Lance Leggett, who has started one game earlier this year.

* LB Roger McIntosh had his ankle heavily wrapped in practice, but it is not injured. Coker considered it a "precautionary". McIntosh practiced in all drills.

* OL Rashad Butler had his hand heavily taped after suffering a dislocated finger last game. He is expected to start on Saturday.
