Another UM Commit

Jupiter's Courtney Harris has been favoring the Hurricanes from day one in this recruiting process. "They were actually the first school to offer me way back in the spring of my junior season," Harris said. "They made it seem like they wanted me real early."

Harris, 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, began getting a lot more interest from other programs as the summer wore on. However, he never wavered from his strong interest in UM.

"They were there in the beginning," he said. "I knew going in that they were my top team anyway."

Earlier this week, Harris committed to the Hurricanes. While he plays on both sides of the ball in high school, he projects as a defensive end in college.

"I just love playing defense so I can hit people," he said. "I love chasing after the quarterback and disrupting things on other people's offense."

While Harris has been nursing a hamstring injury this season, UM coach Randy Shannon got a good look at him earlier this season. He was at Jupiter's first game. Harris said there's a lot to like about the Hurricanes, including the depth chart that will gave him lots of competition. He talked about that.

"All that ain't even really matter," he said. "It's all about being the best. If you don't think you can be the best, then you don't need to go to a place like Miami. If you feel like you can go up against the best, which I think I can, then all that doesn't even really matter."
