Max Jean-Gilles Interview

Max Jean-Gilles is one of the nation's top OL prospects and he's now narrowed his list down to two. He talks about each of his favorites. Who has the inside track? We have all the answers in this indepth interview with the All-American.

At 6-foot-4 and 340 pounds, North Miami Beach offensive lineman Max Jean-Gilles (pronounced Jeen-Gilliss) had great news to start off our conversation.

"Mike, before you start, I wanted to let you know that I passed the SAT. I got an 830 on the last test so I'm good to go."

Jean-Gilles is now gearing up for the Dade-Broward game later this month.

"It's down to Miami and Georgia," Jean-Gilles said. "Nebraska is out of it. I will still probably take visits to Ohio State and Arkansas, but it's going to be out of Miami and Georgia."

Jean-Gilles took a December visit to Georgia and came away very impressed. He compared the two programs.

"I like the Southern hospitality at Georgia," he said. "Their entire team is like one big family. At Miami, they have everything."

I then asked him to explain that comment.

"Miami just has everything. Really, they got everything."

The talented offensive lineman is scheduled to visit Ohio State this weekend, followed by Arkansas on Jan 18.

"I'm going to UM on the 25th," he said. "I saw the Rose Bowl and it didn't surprise me. I knew we'd win. Coach Kehoe has just been waiting for me to take my visit."

So does Gilles have a favorite between the two?

"It's even at this point," he said. "I'll know for sure after my visit to UM. That's when I'll have a decision ready."

Personally, I feel Jean-Gilles will end up at UM. There's no question in my mind, and there hasn't been all year. It felt good hearing him talk about UM using the term "we" when referring to the team. But the best news is the passing test score.
