Alford Talks About Finalists

Jason Alford is one of the nation's top DT prospects and he's got it narrowed down to two. He's very close to making a decision and goes indepth about each of his favorites in this interview.

At 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds, Orange, N.J. defensive tackle Jason Alford has been enjoying the quiet recruiting period lately.

"It's been real refreshing since Christmas," he said. "It has given me a chance to really think about all of this."

Any conclusions?

"I'm still really undecided between Miami and Penn State," he said. "I loved Miami. My visit there was great and I love their style of defense. It fits my personality and the way I play. I'm very aggressive and like flying to the ball. They will surround me with a lot of talent and they have a great atmosphere there. I'm going to be taking my official visit to Penn State this weekend to see how it compares. I've been there several times, but never for an official visit and I know how it changes."

Alford has also been on trips to Virginia and Syracuse, but he says those schools are pretty much eliminated. "I'm also scheduled for Rutgers on January 18, but that's not real strong. I'm just going there because they've been nice to me all year and it's local."

So when will Alford have a decision ready?

"I'm not real sure," he said. "Hopefully I'll be able to really compare Penn State and Miami after this weekend, then sit down and come up with a decision. It's not going to be easy, but time is running out."

Personally, it sounds like Alford absolutely loves Miami, but he's very close to Penn State and I think there's a real good chance he will commit there on his visit this weekend. It will also allow him to stay close to his grandmother, who has raised him. However, he's a big time player that UM has clearly made a very strong impression on.
