Sleeper DT to Visit UM

At 6-2 and 295, McCullough has emerged as one of the state's top defensive tackle prospects. He will visit UM later this month and he talks about the Hurricanes and other schools on his list in this indepth interview.

However, due to a sprained MCL, McCollough's senior season was cut short to just four games. He still managed 47 tackles and four sacks.

Inside the classroom, he carries a 3.6 core GPA and has a 16 ACT score, which he's already taken again. He needs just one point.

"I'm still looking at Clemson, Michigan State, Miami, and Virginia," he said. "They all told me I have a scholarship except for Miami. They said they want to wait until my visit there."

McCollough who was a standout performer in the CaliFlorida all-star game last week, has taken just one trip so far.

"I went to Michigan State and it was alright," he said. "It wasn't anything special, but it was a nice visit. I was supposed to go to Clemson this weekend, but Coach Knox called tonight and asked if I'd come on the 18th instead. That's fine. It just means I'll visit Miami on the 25th now. I'll talk about that with Coach Soldinger the next time he calls."

McCollough said he spoke with the UM coach when the team was in Pasadena.

"He called and asked if I could come in for a visit later this month," he said. "I was like 'sure' just let me know when. So we're going to discuss that when he calls again."

McCollough said he's received in-home visits from Michigan State, Clemson, and Virginia, but not UM. "Miami started recruiting me later on," he said. "Around Thanksgiving.

I don't really have a favorite, they're all even at this time," he said. "But if Miami offers, of course I'm going to like it. Who wouldn't? I like Miami because if I go there, I know I'll have more competition there than anyone else and it'll make me work harder."

Speaking of working hard, McCollough has been doing it all season. Back in April, he checked in at the NIKE Camp weighing 325 pounds. When in California last week, he was 299.

Personally, it sounds like UM is very interest to be asking for a visit this late. He provides a wide bodied tackle who is very powerful and really played well despite his injury this season.
