The Miami Hurricanes dominated this game from the very beginning. The Hurricanes came out looking to pass against the Demon Deacons, and did just that. Miami scored touchdowns on drives of 77, 76, and 55 yards. They had five plays in the first quarters of 20 or more yards. With Wake Forest unable to stop the pas, the Hurricanes then tried to establish the run, Frank Gore had six attempts for 45 yards. On defense the Canes allowed just three passing yards, but ran for 49 yards, 28 of which came from the quarterback.

At the beginning of the 2nd quarter, Miami had their first drive of the game that did not result in a score. However, Miami continued their dominance in all facets of the game. Brock Berlin it a streaking Lance Legget down the sideline for a 56-yard touchdown, and at the end of the half came just short of a touchdown with a 52-yard pass to Parrish as time expired. Berlin finished the quarter with 314 passing yards and three touchdowns. Parrish contributed with 141 receiving yards and one touchdown. Miami's defense allowed their only touchdown of the game, largely because of defensive penalties. Wake Forest running back Chris Barclay scored on a 14-yard run.

The Hurricane defense continued it domination in the 3rd quarter, coming out not allowing any yards on Wake's first possession. The Hurricanes Sinorice Moss blocked a punt that was recovered by Rashaun Jones for a touchdown. Ryan Moore scored his first touchdown of the season on a 10-yard reception. Backup quarterback Derrick Crudup saw playing time late in the 3rd quarter, as did running back Tyrone Moss.

In the 4th quarter, the second string players saw some playing time. Peattie connected on a 34-yard field goal early in the quarter. Freshmen running backs Charlie Jones and Andrew Johnson got some good reps rushing for 17 & 18 yards on five & seven yards respectively. Johnson scored on a 10 yard run with 50 seconds left in the game. Crudup finished with an efficient game, 6-of-8 for 63 yards.
