FB Prospect Sets UM Visit

Jerrell Mabry is very excited for his team's playoff game on Friday. The talented fullback prospect is ready for the third round action. "This is huge," Mabry said. "I'm ready for it. Everyone is pretty hyped up. I can't wait. I've gotta go out there and do my thing because this is another big game."

Mabry, 6-0 and 248 pounds, has rushed for 1,098 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season. He's been playing football since he was only five years old.

"The biggest difference between me and other guys out there is that I'm bigger and can handle the punishment," he said. "I have good feet for someone who is almost 250. I think I can be a running back or be a fullback who touches the ball a lot."

Mabry, a full academic qualifier, has scheduled four official visits and is still working on No. 5.

"I go to (Georgia) Tech on the 17th of December, Miami on the 10th, Alabama on January 8th, and South Carolina on the 14th," he said. "I aint really decided on the fifth one yet."

Mabry said two of the three stand out on his list of favorites right now.

"It's either Georgia Tech or Miami at the top," he said. "Georgia Tech is only about an hour and a half away and they have a good program. Miami, I just like their style. Their coaches were telling me that Willis McGahee actually started at fullback (Rose Bowl, for example) before he ever started at tailback. They like having their guys able to do both. I think Miami's situation gives me a chance to go in and play."

The talented fullback prospect said looking at depth charts isn't going to be something that factors into his decision too much.

"I believe I can go in and play wherever I go," he said. "The best man will win the job and be on the field. I would hope that everyone's trying to be that guy so the competition will be good."
