FAU Preview

The Canes are coming off a tough 83-70 overtime loss to Xavier in the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic. It was a disappointing loss in that the ‘Canes were on the cusp of huge confidence building win, but the Muskateers caught fire in overtime and were able to pull away.

The ‘Canes however, were able to come back from as many as ten points down to push the game into overtime on Robert Hite's 23-footer with seven seconds remaining. Hite led the team with 20 points.

Guillermo Diaz rebounded from a tough outing against South Carolina State with 16 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. His aggressiveness was something that surely sparked the ‘Canes throughout. Diaz is averaging 9.7 points and a team high 4.7 assists per game through three games.

A win over FAU would surely lift the spirits of the team as it heads to Gainesville this Saturday for a big game against the No. 22 Florida Gators.

FAU is coming into this game with a 0-2 record and reeling after a 90-47 blowout loss to the Gators. The Owls are in serious need of a win and would like nothing more than to knock off the ‘Canes which have beaten FAU 16 out of 17 contests.

FAU is led by Quinton Young who is averaging 15 points per game and Robert Williams who is averaging 9.5 points and 8 rebounds per game.
