With an 84-68 victory against Florida Atlantic University and an overtime loss to Xavier, an elite eight team last year, the University of Miami basketball team is starting to build some momentum.
Against Florida Atlantic, Anthony King posted the first career triple-double in the history of the University of Miami, along with setting an ACC record for blocks with 13. King was supported by guards Guillermo Diaz and Rob Hite, who had career highs for points with 27 and 38 respectively.
The Hurricanes will look to get out and run with a much larger and athletic Gator team. The Gators are known for their tendency's to play "soft", so if the Hurricanes can win the battles inside, they have a chance to squeak out a victory.
However, that will be easier said than done this Saturday, as the ‘Canes travel to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators, ranked 19th by the Associated Press and 18th by the USA Today ESPN poll.
The Gators enter Saturday's game with a record of 4-0, following a 88-51 victory over Florida A&M. The Gators are led by the experienced trio of: guards Matt Walsh and Anthony Roberson, along with forward David Lee.
This game will prove to be a tough test for the Hurricanes that could be a gauge as to how far the program has come, and how far it still has to go. The Gators will be one of the most talented and deepest teams that the ‘Canes will face all season. If Miami can somehow outscore Florida on fast breaks and win the battle of the boards they have a chance to hang with the superiorly talented Gators.
