"Things have slowed down a lot," he said. "It has given me the opportunity to think more and more about my decision."
"I've been to Pitt and Miami," he said. "And I am going to Penn State next weekend. Those are the ones I'm primarily looking at still. I might take a visit to Michigan State at the end of the month, or possibly Florida or Michigan."
At 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds, Farris competed in the national all-star game two weeks ago. When asked who the best defensive lineman was during practice, Farris was quick to respond.
"Some guy named [Jonathan] Lewis was very good," he said. "He was tough to block all week in practice."
Farris said he has talked about in-home visits from Miami and Pittsburgh, but doesn't have them finalized yet.
In addition, he talked about Miami's Rose Bowl performance.
"Man, it was a blowout," he said. "Miami just has much better athletes than everyone else. They capped a great season and it was mainly due to great dedication that they have."
So as signing day nears, who holds the upper hand?
"I really can't say because they're all even," he said. "When I get back from my Penn State visit, I'll probably be ready to announce where I am going."
Personally, it sounds to me like Farris loves Miami, but isn't quite sure that he wants to go that far from home. It's tough to get a kid like that away from his home state, but we're putting up an incredible effort.
