Miami Offer Close?

Quintin Taylor's senior season didn't exactly start the way he had hoped. A shoulder injury sidelined him for the first four games of the season. However, he returned with a bang. In the team's final seven games, Taylor had over 70 tackles and made a big impact at fullback as well.

"I did my thing out there," Taylor said. "I'm used to playing different positions. I played defensive end here as a sophomore then played both ways -- fullback and linebacker -- in my junior and senior years."

The Apopka standout, who stands 6-1 and 220 pounds, says he prefers defense and would like to play that side of the ball in college.

"Wherever the team needs me but I prefer defense," he said. "I like finding the ball and making plays. I think I can have a biger impact on that side."

The talented linebacker, a full academic qualifier, is now focusing on the recruiting process now that his season is over.

"I'm actually going up to West Virginia this weekend for my first visit," he said. "They offered me and Eric (Sledge) way back in the spring so we're going up there for a visit. After that, I don't know yet. Hopefully before Christmas break I'll know where my other visits will go."

Taylor, who saw NC State head coach Chuck Amato at his school on Wednesday, said Maimi's the only in-state program recruiting him right now.

"Miami just started calling again," he said. "I talked to Coach Shannon last week. He just said how they liked me and that they're gonna try setting a visit up. It sounded like they are getting ready to offer."

Taylor was asked his feelings on the Hurricanes and how an offer from them would impact his current list of favorites.

"That would be great because I've always liked Miami," he said. "They're always playing good, competing for one of the BCS games. I'll probably visit there so I can find out more about them."

Taylor said he's still wide open with the process and doesn't plan on making any decisions soon.

"I'm still looking at a lot of them," he said. "I'm just trying to sort everything out. I'm visiting West Virginia and probably Miami but I dont have any others set up right now."
