"I've been looking forward to the Miami visit forever it seems. I'm gonna go down there and see what's going on. My aunt is going with me."
Atkins, 5-11 and 180 pounds, made a summer commitment to the University of Florida and says he still considers himself a Gator commit.
"I'm still committed," he said. "It's just that I ain't signed anything yet and I'm gonna take these visits to make sure I'm making the right decision."
The talented defender had in-home visits from all three Florida schools this past week.
"Miami, Florida, and Florida State came by," he said. "They're all pretty much saying the same things, trying to get me to come or whatever."
After Atkins visits Miami this weekend, he has three trips lined up for January.
"I go to Florida State on the 7th, Florida on the 21st, and Auburn the second weekend," he said. "I'm gonna announce my final decision on signing day."
Atkins says there's a lot to like about the Hurricanes, especially at his position.
"I've always liked Miami," he said. "They produce all those great players and I think I can play with those guys. They're trying to get people like me and Kenny Phillips."
The talented cornerback prospect said as of right now, his final decision will come down to Florida and Miami.
"I'm still committed to Florida but right now it's pretty much between them and Miami," he said. "I talked to their new DBs coach, I forget his name, and we're pretty cool."
