Canes Still Lead?

Palm Bay linebacker Neefy Moffett had been favoring the Hurricanes for most of the season until his most recent interview with us. After a weekend visit to Oklahoma, Moffett seems to be back on the Hurricanes' side.

"Oklahoma was great," Moffett said. "They have an amazing program. The players all get along really well and the coaches were real cool. The coaches seem real organized and everything and they're really passionate about winning and doing everything a certain way. It works because they have the top team in the nation right now. I expected a great visit and that's exactly what it was."

Moffett, 6-1 and 215 pounds, has now visited both programs who will be competing in the national title game in a couple weeks.

"USC was alright," he said. "They're both in there but I gotta say Miami's still at the top. Florida State's right there too."

The talented linebacker prospect is scheduled to visit FSU on Jan. 7 and Miami on the 21st.

"FSU really picked it up late in the year," he said. "I'm real high on them. They seem to be going all out now. Miami's the one I'm waiting for. They're supposed to have all the big recruits there that weekend."

Moffett said the more the recruiting process goes on, the more highly he thinks of the Canes.

"It's just that that's my dream school and always has been," he said. "I hear or see all this stuff from the coaches or on my visits. But when it comes down to it all, Miami's still at the top. Those (January) visits will tell a lot."

Moffett is a full academic qualifier.
