"I had a such a great time that I committed," Clearwater (Countryside) kicker Jon Peattie (pronounced Petty) said tonight. "I met with Coach Coker this morning and I told him I committed. I was the third player to commit to Miami this weekend. Devin Hester and Greg Threat also made commitments to Miami."
At 6-foot-3 and 200, Peattie is the state's best kicker prospect this season. He connected on 12-of-15 field goals with a long of 57. He also hit 28 for 38 on touchbacks and averaged 36 yards per punt.
"I'll sign on February 6 and start school in August," he said. "I'm very excited about the whole thing. I want to eventually get my Master's degree, so I will redshirt my first year, work hard, learn under Todd [Sievers], then hopefully replace him when he graduates."
Peattie got to hang out with Todd Sievers and Mark Gent. "They were both great guys," he said. "I was very impressed."
