Tamba Hali Interview

The star defensive end from New Jersey visited Miami this weekend. He talks about his visit and where Miami stacks up in his college choice.

"I really liked it," he said of his visit to Miami this weekend. "It was a great experience for me. I fell in love with the place. The coaches were great, the weather was great, the campus was great, and they have a good program for my major (Computer Information Specialist)."

At 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, Hali hung out with Cornelius Green and D.J. Williams on his visit.

"The players were great," he said. "They're all close friends."

Hali says his final decision is down to three.

"I'm done taking my visits," he said. "It's down to Miami, Penn State, and Syracuse. My dad likes Penn State, but he basically just wants to watch some of my games. And we know that if I go to Miami, he'll be able to watch me play because Miami plays teams like Boston College, Temple, and Syracuse."

Hali became close friends with kicker Jon Peattie on his visit. "We hung out and had a great time together," he said. "If I go to Miami, we are going to major in the same thing."

Hali talked about his personal meeting with Coach Coker.

"I told him how much I liked Miami," he said. "He said they're losing four defensive ends after next season and they will need some. I would redshirt my first year, then have a chance to start my second year."

Hali denies a favorite. "They're all tens," he said. "I like all three of them a lot. Now I just have to sit down with my coaches and my dad to make a final choice."
