Final Four Now Set

Defensive lineman Melvin Alaeze is widely considered one of the nation's premier defensive line prospects. The talented lineman has his list narrowed down to four.

"My top two are still Maryland and Virginia Tech," Alaeze said. "But right after them is Miami and USC. It's pretty much between those four right there."

Alaeze, 6-2 and 270 pounds, has already taken official visits to his co-favorites and planned on announcing his final decision at the Scout.com All-American game.

"I still might do that but I might take another visit or two," he said. "I really want to check out those others before I do it."

The talented lineman said from day one that the most important thing he'll be looking for in choosing a school is the relationship he has with the coaches recruiting him.

"How I get along with the coaches is real important to me," he said. "I don't wanna talk to a coach all year just because I'm a top recruit. I wanna talk to coaches who can talk to me as a person, who can talk to me about things other than football. Coach Hargreaves and I are real tight. He really wants me and I've gotten pretty close to him. He represents Miami well. Plus, you can't argue with all the guys they put into the pros. I wanna take a visit there before I make a final decision."

If Alaeze doesn't announce at the All-American Game on Jan. 15, look for him to squeeze in a visit to UM on one of the next two weekends.

"I just wanna make sure I make the best possible decision," he said.
